We’re Live! Time to Cruise for Christmas Lights!

December 6th, 2010

Looking for a unique and free activity this holiday season? Fill a few thermoses with hot cocoa and load the kids up in the minivan – it’s time to cruise for Christmas lights! The Haynes Light Show Display is up and running. This is our third year to share our joy of Christmas through lights with the community. Each year we plan and add to the show to offer something new and fresh for those who stop by to see. We enjoy hearing the many stories from onlookers and are honored when the cameras come out to record the moment. We love our Savior and we love our community – this is our way of saying, “Thank you.”  We hope you stop by this year. Click the Holiday Display link on the left for other displays in your or our area!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

November 8th, 2010

So as H stated in the previous post, the light hanging began this past weekend. Saturday morning he came home with a 32′ ladder and with a determined glimmer in his eye, he began what is now our annual tradition of preparing for the Big Show. He was right about one thing – I really don’t like him pretending to be cliffhanger off the side of our house! It’s very high up there! Just to give you an idea of how tall it is ….

These are pictures from 2009  and that ladder was actually 28′ – NOT  32′. So you can probably see why I don’t like this part of the process. However, I have overcome my fear of witnessing my husband plummet to his death while hanging Christmas lights. How so? you ask…. I go shopping! And this weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to go shopping with his mom and then to lunch where his sister joined us. It was great fun!

The Lights Go UP!!!

November 5th, 2010

We will begin installing all the lights this weekend.  We are hoping to get almost everything up this weekend.  Most of my time last year was spent making this year easier to install.  I have decided to use a ladder once again this year which is not making Em very happy.  I just can not drop that kind of cash to do 1 hours worth of work.  Nothing makes you feel more alive than hanging 35′ in the air on an extension ladder hanging Christmas lights(LOL)  more to follow.  Stay Tuned!!
